Wedding& Portrait Photography FAQ’s

Wedding FAQ’s:

How many weddings do you book a year?

We only take a maximum of 30 weddings per year. This insures that each of our clients receives the proper attention to detail from start to finish.

Do you travel for Weddings & Portrait Sessions?

Absolutely, we love to travel and see new places.  We take commissions throughout the year to a variety of unique destinations.

What kind of equipment do you photograph with?

Laika Photographers uses Canon Professional gear. We are continually investing in new and innovative equipment to provide our clients with the best image quality possible. See our Gear List (What is in our Bags?)

Do we get the high-resolution files/digital negatives?

Yes, the digital negatives are available in all of our wedding packages; and they are delivered upon receiving your album.

What is required to book my date?

We require 50% down along with your contract to book the date. The final 50% is due on the wedding date.

Do you have insurance?

Absolutely.  We have coverage through a comprehensive, multi-insurance carrier, endorsed by Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).

How long does it take to receive my prints and album?

Our books take approximately 4-8weeks to complete from the date you’ve chosen the images for the album. These albums are custom-designed and crafted to last a lifetime.

Investment:

When selecting your photographer remember that a professional photographer is more than someone who simply takes pictures. We capture memories that tell a story, your story, which will last a lifetime. You are investing in photographic art.

How much will it cost to commission Laika Photographers?

Our local wedding packages start at $1000. Our local portrait sessions start at $300.

What is included in our engagement session?

Disc with all printable images.

Up to 90 minutes of shooting on location. (If you need some ideas on locations, don’t worry we have plenty of suggestions!  We also allow our clients to pick a location that might be special to them.)

Your online ordering gallery will be posted 2-6 weeks after your session is shot.

What should I wear to the engagement session?

Your session allows for two outfits total. Many couples start in something a little sassy and change mid-way through the session into something more casual and relaxed.  Bright colors are always great. Avoid all black or all white. Being comfortable and being yourself is the most important thing.

What do we do if it is raining on the day of our session?

Generally if it is just a light mist, we will proceed with the session.  Bring along an umbrella just in case!  Typically, we take couples inside local coffee shops, under awnings etc. until the rain passes.  However, in the case of heavy downpours we will re-schedule the session for another time. Despite what some people may think, cloudy days are fantastic for photos!
